How to make a funky loopy bow with grosgrain ribbon
How to make a funky loopy bow with wholesale grosgrain ribbons in Australia. we have all your hair bow and headband making supplies here in Australia.
You will need
craft ribbon, we used grosgrian ribbon
9mm grosgrain ribbon and or 22mm grosgrain ribbon or satin ribbon lengths about 70cm
60mm grench barrett clip
mixture of ribbons, korker ribbon, tulle and anything you like.
Spike bow for fillers, I like to stich and tie. I make my spikes 4" and 4.5" long
Stitched and tied, make up 1 for each side to be added at the end. They don't need to be the same.
Lay your grosgrain ribbon or satin ribbons flat on top of each other. I put some clips to keep it flat. I used 3 by 9mm and 2 by 22mm ribbons.
Use a thread and needle with thread about 60cm. Stitch the end of the grosgrain ribbon to your barrette clip, leave some grosgrain ribbon over hang.
Now push your grosgrian ribbon along the clip to make a loop and wrap your thread around the grosgrain ribbon and clip. You can use wire if you wish.
Keep making loops a little bigger until you get to the centre, than make them a little smaller rapping the ribbon around the base of each loop with your thread.
When you get to the end tie the ribbon to the hole in the clip same as the other side. Cut and seal your ribbon.
this is what it looks like from the bottom.
this is what it looks like on top. Now we have to pull the loops apart.
Slip your fingers in between the loops and pull them opposite sides. Change each loop to mix up the colours. This is a loopy bubble bow.
To make it funky we pull the loops apart where the thread is wrapped.
Take your spike bows and push them into the center of the open loop. Push it right down and tie it. You can tie korker ribbons in the middle of your spike.
Tie with a triple loop. Glue a strip of ribbon across the base of the clip for a neat finish.
That's it.
You can fill it with anything you like. If your spikes or korker ribbon is to long for your liking just cut and seal it shorter.
