Make a Ella Boutique bow with grosgrain ribbon
To make this bow you will need 22mm grosgrain ribbon in your chosen colour.
You will need 2 lengths by 20cm and 2 lengths by 19cm. Seal your ribbon ends. I use a lighter.
We will start with the 2 by 19cm lengths. Fold in half and put a little mark in the centre inside the fold.
You can see where I have made the mark for the center. Take one end and bend it around so the edge of your ribbon is along the centre side. Allow about 5mm to over lap the centre.
Now push the ribbon to the edge. Hold in place with a hair clip or pin.
Now you need to do the otherside. Bend the ribbon around and overlap the centre mark by about 5mm.
Push your edges up to the side of the ribbon and hold in place with a hair clip or pin.
Repeat this so you now have 2. You can put these to the side for now.
Now take one of your 20cm lengths and fold in half and put a pin through the centre.
Fold your two ends over so they over lap about 1cm and put a pin to hold in place.
Now repeat with the other length of ribbon. Put each of the ribbons you folded early with the ribbons you just folded.
Take your folded 19cm length of ribbon and place it on top of ends of your 20cm folded ribbon.
Line up the ends of your ribbon so they sit centre on the bottom ribbon.
I find in easiest to put a hair clip on one side and then put a pin through from the other side to hold it all in place.
Your ribbons will be about 3.5cm wide. Mark the centre as I have done.
Now take your loop end of the ribbon and bring down onto off the ribbon ends. Line up your centre needle mark with the line your have just marked.
Push your ribbon up to line up with the edge of the ribbons.
Take another pin and pin the ribbons in place.
Now take a needle and thread and push through the two layer of ribbon about 1/2 centimetre out from the corner of the ribbon push back through all layers making sure to go through all layers. Your spacing is about 1/2 cm
Make sure to check your back to pick up the corner edges of the ribbon. Continue to the otherside.
Make sure you pick up all layers of ribbon.
Now your centre loop ribbon might be pushed a little out the bottom. Make sure to pop them through.
Pull tight and gather your ribbon. I like to stich back through to the start and pull tight again before tieing of the ribbon.
Push on your center and tuck in your loops if they are not sitting just right.
Repeat with the otherside.
Glue your to sides together with hot glue and wrap a small length of 9mm grosgrain ribbon around the center and hot glue.
I also made this bow in a light pink grosgrain ribbon
